Who Was CJ Roy?
CJ Roy was the founder and chairman of the Confident Group, a Bengaluru-headquartered real estate company with projects spread across Bengaluru, Kerala and Dubai. One of the most talked-about aspects of his life was his ownership of a Bugatti Veyron, considered the world’s fastest street-legal car.A video that recently went viral on social media showed Roy driving away in a blue Bugatti Veyron from what appeared to be a large private residence. In the clip, he is seen standing near the driver’s door, casually greeting viewers before getting into the car.
“Take care friends, have a beautiful evening,” he says before driving off. The video later pans to a sprawling house with a neatly maintained lawn. A nameplate at the gate reads: E64, Dr Roy CJ. The exact date and location of the video remain unverified.
Income Tax Raid and Police Investigation
According to Bengaluru Police chief Seemanth Kumar Singh, the incident came to light while an income tax raid was being conducted at Roy’s office.“Prima facie, it appears that industrialist CJ Roy has shot himself. Ballistic experts and other officials are investigating the case,” Singh said after visiting Roy’s residence on Longford Road.
Police confirmed that the income tax team involved in the raid had arrived from Kerala and had reportedly been conducting searches for the last two to three days. The officers who took part in the operation have also been questioned as part of the investigation.
Handgun Sent for Forensic Analysis
The handgun allegedly used in the incident has been seized and sent for forensic examination. Ballistic experts are expected to submit their findings in the coming days.Authorities are also looking into Roy’s business background, as reports suggest he was facing multiple legal cases linked to his business ventures.
