Every year on December 4, the Indian Navy commemorates its victory over the Pakistani ship Khaibar during Operation Trident in 1971. At the 53rd International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Goa, actor Chiranjeevi, who received the Indian Film Personality of the Year award, posed for a picture with some officers of the Indian Navy.

The actor wrote, "It took me down memory lane effortlessly... to my days as a Naval Cadet... when I had enlisted for the NCC! When a group of Naval officers approached me for a picture at Goa airport last week! It was (sic) delightfully nostalgic.

The celebration of Navy Day is held in recognition of the operational performance of submarines, ships, and aircraft developed in our country as well as in memory of the gallant soldiers who perished during the war. The theme of Indian Navy Day in 2022 was "Going Out to the Neighbors of the Maritime."
