A Chinese couple, Zhang Bo and Ye Chengchen, faced execution for causing harm to two children. The couple's actions, aimed at starting a new family, resulted in widespread outrage and severe punishment. The execution, reported by China Daily, took place more than two years after the Supreme Court of China approved their death sentence.

Zhang Bo was convicted in 2020 for throwing his two children from a 15th-floor apartment, while Ye Chengchen was convicted for allegedly coercing Zhang into committing this heinous act. Zhang, who had a two-year-old girl and a one-year-old boy, was reportedly asked by Ye to eliminate them, deeming the children an "obstacle" to their relationship.

Zhang began a relationship with Ye without revealing his marriage and existing family. Despite divorcing his wife in February 2020, Zhang claimed that Ye compelled him to carry out the gruesome act.


Videos on Chinese social media depicted Zhang in deep distress after the incident. Zhang claimed he was asleep when the children "fell" and woke up to the commotion downstairs. The children's mother, Chen Meilin, expressed shock upon learning about her kids' tragic fate.

The crime sent shock waves across China. News of their executions quickly became a trending topic on Weibo, a Chinese social media site, garnering nearly 200 million views.
