"Chhatriwali": Tejas Deoskar, Rakul Preet Singh respond to allegations of movie being linked to "Janhit Mein Jaari"

Chhatriwali, a new Zee5 film, is about a young woman who takes up the cause of sexual education and teaches it to young children in a tiny village. When the trailer was published, many people thought the tone, if not the content, of the film was similar to Nushrratt Bharuccha's Janhit Mein Jaari. According to sources, Tejas Deoskar, the director of Chhatriwali, and lead actress Rakul Preet Singh address the parallels and more.


Rakul claims that because there are so few films that address forbidden issues, comparisons occur. She went on to say that there is no need to compare this picture to any other. There may be ten different love tales in a year and they would all be unique. Any film genre, for that matter. The emphasis in this film is on the positive. It is not drawn from anything else and is contained entirely inside the tale. She claims that they are really authentic and sincere to their tale, thus they will refuse to compare it to anybody else's.



According to Deoskar, the film provides a new perspective on the subject. Speaking on how he and his crew maintained sensitivity while injecting comedy. He continued that “The core of the tale, he argues, is to keep writing, conducting variations, and telling it to other people. There you will discover finer details as well as where you are going wrong. As a general rule, you must be sincere about the subject. Gags cannot be removed. That doesn't work in a movie. A film requires a solid understanding of the plot”.


Rajesh Tailang, Sumeet Vyas, Satish Kaushik, Rakesh Bedi, Prachee Shah, and Dolly Ahluwalia are also featured in Chhatriwali. Zee5 began airing the movie on January 20.
