Chhatriwali release date, OTT platform: Where and when to watch Rakul Preet Singh's social comedy

'Chhatriwali', a social comedy that aims to de-stigmatize taboos related to condom usage and sex education, will be released on OTT this week. The social comedy 'Chhatriwali', which stars Rakul Preet Singh, has been getting good reviews from both the public and reviewers.

For the uninitiated, Rakul plays Sanya Dhingra in the movie, an unemployed chemical prodigy who decides to teach sex education to schoolchildren in a rural village. Apart from her, Sumeet Vyas, Satish Kaushik, Dolly Ahluwalia, Rajesh Tailang, Rakesh Bedi, and Prachee Shah Paandya all play significant parts in Tejas Prabha Vijay Deoskar's social comedy.

On January 20, the social comedy was officially released on the streaming service ZEE5. Since then, the movie has been trending on various social media platforms, as slice-of-life entertainment has touched the hearts of many viewers.


Following the release of the trailer earlier this month, many people expressed the opinion that Chhatriwali is similar to the Nushratt Bharuccha-starring film Janhit Mein Jaari, which was released in theatres in June of the previous year. Responding to these comparisons, Rakul Preet has, however, stated that people shouldn't compare films that deal with sensitive topics like sexual health.

With this social comedy, Rakul Preet Singh hopes to recover from the critical and commercial failure of her five films—Thank God alongside Sidharth Malhotra, Doctor G alongside Ayushmann Khurrana, Cuttputlli alongside Akshay Kumar, Runway 34 alongside Ajay Devgn, and Attack alongside John Abraham—in 2022.

Since it is her first solo leading role, the actress has mentioned in a statement how significant the movie is to her. She particularly liked the film's approach to its socially concerned issue, which was done in a humorous way to capture viewers' attention.

On the work front, Rakul will work alongside Akshay Kumar in the film Mission Cinderella. In addition, she has a Tamil-Telugu bilingual film called 31 October Ladies Night.
