Chennai is gearing up to host Asian Men's Hockey Champions Trophy 2023.

India is all set to host Asian Champions Trophy 2023 hockey tournament from August 3 to 12 in Chennai. This prestigious sporting event, now in its seventh edition, is set to serve as a precursor to the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China in September.

Tamil Nadu Sports Minister, Udhayanidhi Stalin, announced that top-flight hockey would be returning to Chennai, which was once the capital of the sport in South India. He expressed his pleasure at the prospect of hosting the Hero Asian Champions Trophy 2023, stating that the event would further revive the sport in the region.




The last international hockey event held in Chennai was the Asia Cup in 2007, at the Mayor Radhakrishnan stadium. The home team won the title by beating Korea 7-2 in the final.

Apart from India, the tournament will also feature defending champions South Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan, Japan, and China.
