Chennai Super Kings signs England all-rounder Ben Stokes, Dhoni reacts with delight and excitement

Chennai Super Kings(CSK) signed England’s Test captain and the world’s premier all-rounder Ben Stokes for Rs 16.5 crore. Stokes became the most expensive player of the CSK team in IPL 2023. MS Dhoni reacted to the news in surprise and delight and said that CSK had found the all-rounder it was looking forward to with the selection of Stokes. CSK CEO Kasi Vishwanath said that Dhoni is excited to get Stokes and feels his selection is well-timed as he comes in the end.

Vishwanath however said that Dhoni will only take the decision of captaincy whether Stokes will lead CSK this season. Dhoni has been entrusted with the decision to decide on captaincy as he will step down from the CSK captaincy and thus decide who will succeed him.

Stokes recently led England to a sweeping victory against Pakistan in the Test series in Karachi by 3-0. Besides Stokes, Kyle Jamieson was inducted in CSK for Rs 1 crore, Nishant Sidhu for Rs 60 lakh, and Ajinkya Rahane for Rs. 50 lakhs, Sheikh Rasheed for Rs. 20 lakhs, Ajay Mandal for Rs. 20 lakhs, and Bhagath Varma for Rs. 20 lakhs.


Stokes also became the third most expensive player in the IPL history, after Cameron Green who joined Mumbai Indians at 17.5 crores. While England all-rounder, Sam Curran became the most expensive player in IPL as he signed up Punjab Kings for a whopping amount of Rs. 18.5 crores.
