IANSHINDI
Ahead of Pongal, Kollywood superstars Vijay and Ajith have released their films on the same day, for the first time in nine years, reigniting a simmering rivalry.

The day has, however, gone horribly wrong in the capital city of Tamil Nadu, with one fan losing his life after he fell off a truck while celebrating the release of Ajith-starrer 'Thunivu.'

Fans got on top of a moving lorry that was crossing the theatre and started dancing on it ahead of the first show of the H. Vinoth directed film. Reports say that the young fan suffered grevious injury on his spinal cord that ultimately led to his death.

In addition, fans of both actors have clashed at multiple locations, with police forced to lathi-charge the offenders. The day's shows began early in the morning with Vijay's 'Varisu' kicking off with shows as early as 1am, while 'Thunivu' started off with a 4am one.

Ajith fans, who watched his film at Rohini theatre in Chennai, have reportedly torn down a banner of Vijay's 'Varisu' placed in the theatres. This disturbed Vijay fans and they tore most banners of Ajith's 'Thunivu' in retaliation.
