In a deeply disturbing case reported by PTI, a 27-year-old software engineer from the Scheduled Caste community was brutally hacked to death in Chennai, allegedly due to an inter-caste relationship.

The young victim, employed with a tech company in Chennai, was attacked near a Siddha facility on Sunday by an armed gang. Police say the gang was led by S Surjith, who has since been arrested.

What makes the case even more troubling is that both of Surjith’s parents are sub-inspectors of police.

Authorities confirmed that a case has been registered against the accused youth and his parents under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

While the investigation is ongoing, this incident has once again sparked outrage over caste-based violence and honour crimes in the country.

More updates are awaited as the case unfolds.
