ChatGPT users can now discover jobs via Indeed’s new app in India

Since OpenAI launched ChatGPT in November 2022, people have treated it as an assistant for almost everything from planning trips to helping them with work and even just as a friend. Now, ChatGPT will also help you look for jobs directly through a chat.

Hiring platform Indeed on Wednesday announced that it has expanded its app within ChatGPT to India and more than 50 countries, allowing users to discover jobs through a conversational interface.

According to the company, the feature lets users search for openings using natural language prompts either through the ChatGPT Apps directory or by typing “@Indeed” in a chat. By connecting their Indeed profiles, users can receive personalised job recommendations based on their skills, experience and preferences.

Search jobs through a simple chat

With the new experience, users can ask for roles in plain language for example, remote jobs or positions matching specific skills. The app then surfaces relevant listings, along with insights into companies, including overviews and employee ratings.

While discovery happens inside ChatGPT, users are redirected to Indeed’s website or mobile app to complete applications, schedule interviews and connect with employers.

Personalised matches backed by AI

Indeed said its recommendations are powered by proprietary matching technology built over two decades. The platform uses data from over 645 million job seeker profiles and analyses more than 140 million hiring signals daily to refine results.

“Career inspiration often strikes in unexpected places,” said Sol Garger, Vice President of Product at Indeed. “Integrating Indeed’s hiring marketplace with ChatGPT helps job seekers turn those moments into action.”

The expansion is part of Indeed’s broader collaboration with OpenAI to integrate AI-driven capabilities into job search and hiring workflows.
