Chaitra Navratri is one of the most important Hindu festivals, celebrated every year. It is devoted to Maa Durga and her nine incarnations, also known as Navadurgas. During the nine-day celebration, devotees of Maa Durga worship the Goddess and the Navadurgas (Maa Durga in nine various incarnations).


According to the Drik Panchang, Navadurga is the life stage of Goddess Parvati, who is regarded as the ultimate strength among all goddesses. After worshipping Maa Kalaratri on Day 7, people are preparing for one of the most important days of Chaitra Navratri - Maha Ashtami (Day 8), also known as Ashtami and Durgashtami. On Ashtami, devotees worship Maa Mahagauri and perform a number of rituals such as Kanjak or Kanya Puja, and others.

Drik Panchang predicts that the Ashtami Tithi will begin at 7:02 p.m. on March 28 and terminate at 9:07 p.m. on March 29.

Goddess Mahagauri is worshipped on the eighth and last day of this festival. Goddess Mahagauri is said to rule the planet Rahu. Goddess Mahagauri is breathtakingly gorgeous known as Shwetambardhara because she dresses exclusively in white.

Day 8 of Chaitra Navratri 2023 puja vidhi:

Devotees should take a bath as the first thing in morning. Then clean your puja chamber and make a flower offering to Goddess Mahagauri. Light diyas and incense sticks before offering fresh flowers to the statue and meditating in front of the Goddess Mahagauri. Chant mantras, do aarti, and offer bhog.
