Chaitra Navratri, started on March 22, will see its second day on March 23. On this day, Goddess Brahmacharini is worshipped by the devotees.

The nine-day festival is considered to be an auspicious event. It is believed that Goddess Durga arrives on Earth to shower blessings on her devotees. In a year, Navratri comes four times. Only two of them are widely celebrated: Shardiya (arrives in the months of September and October) and Chaitra Navratri (arrives in the months of March and April). The Chaitra Navratri will culminate in Ram Navami on March 30.

A devotee, who is willing to participate in the festivities, must follow some rules. Waking up early and taking a bath is imperative for a devotee. The clothes one is wearing must be clean and fresh. Maa Brahmacharini’s idol must be dipped in honey and milk. A teeka must be applied on its forehead. Flowers, sandalwood, curd, milk and rice must be offered to the Goddess during puja. Hibiscus and white lotus can be used on this day.
