CBSE Results Portal glitches update: Government ropes in IIT Madras, IIT Kanpur experts and PSU banks to fix issues

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has sought a detailed report from the Central Board of Secondary Education after a large number of students and parents reported technical glitches during the post-result re-evaluation process. The Education Ministry has directed IIT Madras and IIT Kanpur to help CBSE in resolving the glitches. In addition, four public sector banks have also been roped in to stabilise the payment gateway and improve overall system performance.

"In view of the recent developments and concerns raised by students and parents regarding the CBSE post-result services portal, Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan has given directions to depute a team of professors and technical experts from Indian Institute of Technology Madras and Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur to assist the Central Board of Secondary Education in ensuring a 'glitch-free re-evaluation process'," a PIB statement read. It added that the move followed reports of technical challenges in post examination services portal of CBSE.

The official statement further stated that the expert teams will focus on system upgrades and technical workflows, including portal stability, server performance, authentication processes, user access systems and payment gateways. They will also examine the overall IT infrastructure robustness and assist in corrective measures.

“The expert teams will implement focused technological improvements of the systems and technical workflows and will specifically examine portal stability and server performance. The team will also examine the overall IT Infrastructure robustness and assist in taking corrective measures to ensure that login authentication/ user access systems/ payment gateways are accurate and in order.” It also reiterated that student welfare remains a priority and all necessary corrective measures need to be undertaken by CBSE on priority to ensure a transparent, efficient and student-friendly system.”

Payment failure, login issues and server downtime

Sources said the minister has taken serious note of repeated complaints including server downtime, payment failures, login issues, and unclear scanned copies of answer sheets. Several students also faced difficulties while accessing verification and re-evaluation services for Class 12 board examinations.

Officials have been asked to explain the reasons behind the technical glitches, the preparedness before opening the re-evaluation window, and the role of agencies managing the digital systems.

A joint team of experts from IIT Madras and IIT Kanpur will now work with CBSE to improve system stability, server performance, and overall IT infrastructure. The teams will also focus on fixing login systems, payment gateways, and user access issues to ensure smoother functioning.

The ministry also said the experts will help implement long-term upgrades to avoid similar disruptions in the future.

Separately, Pradhan spoke with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman regarding payment-related issues faced by students. Following this, four public sector banks — State Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, and Indian Bank — have been tasked with supporting CBSE in strengthening its payment systems.

The banks are expected to improve transaction stability, reduce payment errors, and enable faster refunds in case of excess payments. Officials have also been directed to carry out a complete overhaul of the payment gateway system.

“The interests of students are paramount, and all necessary corrective measures must be taken on priority to ensure a transparent, efficient, and student-friendly system,” Pradhan said.

CBSE facing portal glitches

The move comes amid growing concerns over the Central Board of Secondary Education post-result services portal, with several Class 12 students reporting repeated glitches, login failures, and interruptions while trying to access scanned answer sheets and apply for re-evaluation.

Students and parents have also flagged issues related to fluctuating fees on the portal. Screenshots circulating on social media claim sharp variations in charges for obtaining scanned copies and re-evaluation services, with prices reportedly changing within a short span of time.

CBSE has said the website is facing heavy traffic along with attempts of “unauthorised interference”, which has led to repeated disruptions in services.

The board has also extended deadlines for accessing scanned copies of answer books and submitting requests for verification and re-evaluation.

“The CBSE website has been facing unprecedented traffic since the past few days and has also faced several attempts of unauthorised interference, which has made it prone to disruptions,” the board said.

The issue has triggered wider concern among students, especially Class 12 candidates who are also preparing for competitive examinations such as JEE, NEET, and CUET, amid uncertainty over the evaluation and rechecking process.

Meanwhile, CBSE on Saturday extended the deadline for Class 12 students to apply for scanned copies of their evaluated answer books. The new deadline is midnight on May 25, 2026.
