The class 12 English examination for the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Boards will be held on February 24. English core and elective examinations will be conducted from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Those who will be taking the examination can access and download the CBSE 12 English Sample Paper PDF from the CBSE website.

According to the official CBSE Sample Paper 2023, both English Core and Elective examinations will consist of 80 marks, with students having three hours to finish the exam. The English Core question paper will be divided into three sections: reading, writing, and literature. Candidates will have 15 minutes to read the question paper before the test begins.

Unseen passages, MCQs, descriptive answer-based questions, and other sorts of questions will be included in class 12 English question paper. Before taking the exam, candidates must study the precise instructions for each section. Candidates are encouraged to solve all previous years' questions and sample papers as this will provide an overall picture of the question paper format.


The structure of the English Core question paper will be that the Reading Section or Section A will have 20 marks, and the Creative Writing portion or Section B will contain 20 marks. Whereas Section C which is the Literature portion will be of 40 Marks.

The Elective course question paper will have 20 Marks for the Reading section. 8 Marks for Grammar, 20 Marks for the Writing section and 22 Marks for the Literature section. The fiction section will uphold 10 Marks.

Candidates are recommended to read each chapter several times in order to understand the contents of each prose and poetry. It is preferable if the applicants develop the habit of taking notes based on their own analysis and interpretation of the particular text. Students must also underline and revise the important bits on a daily basis.
