The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is expected to announce the Class 12 Result 2026 shortly on its official platforms, following reports that a “CBSE Class 12 Result Coming Soon” banner has been activated on DigiLocker, indicating that digital marksheet hosting preparations are in the final stage.

Students who appeared for the examination will be able to access their results through the official websites cbse.gov.in, results.cbse.nic.in and cbseresults.nic.in. The results will also be available through DigiLocker, the UMANG application and SMS-based services.

The CBSE Class 12 board examinations for 2026 were conducted between February 17 and April 10. This year, the board introduced the On-Screen Marking system for digital evaluation of answer sheets to reduce manual errors and speed up the result preparation process.

CBSE grading and passing criteria

CBSE awards numerical scores for theory and practical papers in external subjects. Grades are also mentioned on marksheets issued for external examinations, while internal assessment subjects display only grades.

The board follows a nine-point grading scale for external examinations. Internal assessment subjects in Class 10 are evaluated on a five-point scale comprising grades A, B, C, D and E.

For external examinations, grades are derived from marks obtained by students, while grades for internal assessment subjects are awarded by schools.

Students must secure at least 33 percent marks in each subject to qualify in CBSE Secondary and Senior School Certificate examinations. In subjects involving practical work at the Senior School Certificate level, candidates are required to obtain 33 percent marks separately in theory and practical examinations, in addition to 33 percent marks in aggregate, to pass the subject.

DigiLocker activity signals possible result announcement soon

The activation of a result-related banner on DigiLocker is widely seen as an indication that provisional digital marksheets are being prepared for release.

Reports related to the evaluation process have suggested that the result timeline may move earlier than previous years due to faster completion of assessment work under the digital evaluation system.

As of May 10, 2026, attention remains on whether the board may declare the results on Sunday, the next working day, or later during the current week. CBSE has not yet officially confirmed the exact date and time of the announcement.

Digital evaluation system introduced this year

The introduction of the On-Screen Marking system marked a significant procedural change in the CBSE evaluation process this year.

Under the digital assessment model, answer sheets were evaluated electronically instead of relying entirely on manual checking methods. The board introduced the system to streamline the assessment process and minimise tabulation-related errors.

Reports associated with the evaluation process indicated that the digital system may have helped the board complete assessment work faster compared to previous years.

Post-result services to begin after declaration

Following the declaration of results, CBSE is expected to open post-result services including verification of marks, re-evaluation requests, photocopies of answer sheets and compartment examination applications.

Students will require their roll number, school number and admit card ID to access results online. Original marksheets and passing certificates will later be distributed through schools.
