2022 was quite an interesting year for students who appeared for their Class 10 and 12 examinations. All CBSE students were introduced to a new format while appearing for their examination this year. The annual examination system underwent a change and board examinations were spread across two terms.

While students were made to answer objective questions in Term 1, they were asked to solve subjective questions in Term 2. These examinations were conducted a while back and now, students are waiting for their results to come out.

Since this was a new way of conducting board exams, the process of arriving at the results would also be slightly unconventional. The final result will be derived after the examiners go through the results of Term 1 and Term 2. An internal assessment will also be conducted by the examiners. There is, however, no clarity yet as to how the final score of each of the two examinations will be arrived at.

Apart from students, a large number of academicians are also of the opinion that the overall score of a student should be determined by the best performance delivered by them in Term 1 or Term 2. This demand comes from the fact that students have spent more than a year engaging in online studies because of the Covid-19 situation and then, they had to appear for two board examinations.

A large number of students have stated that the Board should put a lot of emphasis on internal assessments. According to a demand put across by the majority of students, internal assessments should get 50 per cent weightage and the rest of the weightage should be equally divided between the two terms.

The Central Board of Secondary Education is currently evaluating and compiling the results and it is likely to announce them very soon. Since the new format has been introduced this year, a large number of students are not sure how the evaluation process is being carried out. Most of them are confused about how the final score will be calculated.

CBSE has not shared any official information related to the final score calculation process yet. However, it had confirmed that each term will receive equal weightage. Interestingly, the board had made a decision to not let any student fail in Term 1, including those who could not appear for either of the two terms because of some unavoidable circumstances.
