CBSE Second Board Exam: CBSE has introduced a Two Board Examination Scheme for Class 10 students which will be implemented in May, 2026.
CBSE two exam system: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), in a significant shift, has introduced the Two Board Examination policy from the 2026 exam session for Class 10. Students who appeared in the 2026 main board exams will be another chance to improve their results in upto three subjects through a second exam in May under the new scheme.

This scheme, which was notified on June 25, 2025, is now ready to be rolled out in the 2026 examination cycle. CBSE has now issued an official notice for private candidates who want to write in the second board examinations.


Second board exam Date

CBSE has introduced a Two-Board Examination Scheme for Class 10 students which will be implemented in May, 2026. Class 10 students will be given an opportunity to improve their performance in up to three subjects during the second board examination in May 2026.

First Stage: April 16, 2026 (12 noon) to April 20, 2026 (midnight)

Second Stage: April 21, 2026 to April 22, 2026 (midnight)

CBSE second board exam 2026 eligibility

CBSE has prescribed certain conditions for students to appear in the second board exam. It is mandatory for all students to appear in the first board examination.

Students whose result in the first examination is Compartment, they are eligible to appear in the second exam under the Compartment category. If a student has not appeared in three or more subjects in the first examination, then he/she is not eligible to appear in the second examination. Such students will only be allowed to appear in the main examination next year.

A student must have appeared in at least three examinations in their first main exam.

Must have passed Class 10 to appear for improvement.

According to the instructions laid out by the CBSE for Second Board Examination applications, LOC forms should be filled out through the Online Mode on the following website: https://www.cbse.gov.in/newsite/private/index.html

Important tips for students

-CBSE has prohibited to fill the forms offline.

-Students cannot use DD/cheque/money order/postal order payments for payment of fees

-If students have not paid the fees, them forms will be automatically rejected.

-Late applications would be automatically disqualified.

CBSE Second Board Exam 2026 syllabus

CBSE has confirmed that the Second Board Examination 2026 will be conducted strictly on the same syllabus as the first examination of the year.

What is the fee structure?

Fees will vary depending on the category of the candidates and the examination area. India (per candidate per subject)

Regular fee: Rs. 320 per subject

Total fee (approximate slab): Rs. 1100 per candidate per subject For

Those who submit the fees late will pay have to pay an extra Rs 2000 per candidate apart from the regular fee.

What will be the mode of payment?

CBSE has made it clear that fees can be paid only in online modes, such as: Net banking, Debit card and Credit card (domestic and foreign)
