Case against Instagram influencer Bobby Kataria over video of drinking on a Dehradun road

Police in Uttarakhand have started a probe after a viral video posted by Instagram influencer Bobby Kataria pouring out a drink for himself on a busy road in Dehradun.

The video shows him sitting on a chair in the middle of the road, pouring out a large one for himself from a bottle of Jack Daniels, and sipping it leisurely as traffic flowed around him.

"Let's enjoy a bit on the roads," says the caption while a part of the song sadak hai apne baap ki (the road belongs to my father) plays in the background of the video.

Police in the state however did not apparently agree with that line and slammed a case against the Haryana-based bodybuilder.

A tweet by the Uttarakhand Police on Thursday said the viral video on social media showed Kataria openly drinking on the road, and that upon the orders of DGP Ashok Kumar a case has been filed against under relevant sections of the IPC and the IT Act.

Kataria, who has more than 6.3 million followers on Instagram was also panned by some users for being disrespectful to the culture of the state.

Kataria is also facing an investigation over another video which showed him lighting up inside a SpiceJet flight. Passengers are not allowed to take lighter in the plane. They are also not allowed to smoke inside the plane.
