Vehicle makers in India have announced plans to raise prices in January 2023. Leading Indian automakers have announced price increases on several models beginning next month in order to balance rising input costs while adhering to stricter emission standards that will take effect in April 2023.

The new standards require that vehicles include an onboard self-diagnostic system to track their driving emission levels in real-time.

Leading car makers including Hyundai, Honda, Maruti Suzuki, Mercedes-Benz, Tata Motors, Renault, Audi, MG Motor and Kia India have previously announced plans to raise prices beginning in the coming month.


Honda Cars India Vice President (Sales and Marketing) Kunal Behl said that the company will have to undergo a price revision starting January 23 due to the ongoing rise in the input cost of raw materials and forthcoming regulatory obligations. The increase varies by model and can range up to Rs 30,000.

Honda: The Japanese automaker can raise prices on some of its models by up to Rs 30,000.

Jeep India: Prices for all Jeep SUV variants will rise by 2-4%.

Hyundai India: Starting in January 2023, a variety of vehicles will see price increases.

Maruti Suzuki: The car maker claims that recent regulatory constraints and ongoing cost pressure were the driving factors behind the choice. However, it has not revealed the quantum of the price hike.

Tata Motors: The company's ICE and EV models will both see price increases by up to two per cent.

Kia India: Starting in January 2023, Kia automobiles will cost up to Rs 50,000 more.

Mercedes-Benz: The premium automaker will raise prices by as much as 5%.

Audi India: Starting in January 2023, the business will increase car pricing by up to 1.7%.
