In an emotional and historic moment that will be remembered for years, Tamil Nadu got its new Chief Minister today. Actor-turned-politician Thalapathy Vijay, dressed in a crisp white shirt, raised his right hand and took the oath of office and secrecy as the 13th Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

The Swearing-In Ceremony

Administered by Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai, the swearing-in ceremony was attended by thousands of jubilant supporters, senior leaders, and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.


Nine senior TVK leaders also took oath as cabinet ministers alongside Vijay, forming a balanced team of experience and youth. The grand event was held just six days after the Assembly election results, showcasing Vijay’s swift political manoeuvring as TVK secured the support of Congress, VCK, CPI, CPM, and IUML to cross the 118-seat majority mark.

A Proud Moment for the Family

Vijay’s parents, SA Chandrasekhar and Sobha, were present to witness the proud occasion. His mother Sobha called it the best Mother’s Day gift, while his father expressed immense happiness seeing his son take oath as Chief Minister.
