Bride’s mom elopes with groom-to-be, along with ₹2.5 lakh cash & jewellery days before wedding
In a shocking turn of events, a 40-year-old woman from Aligarh allegedly eloped with her 20-year-old daughter's fiancé just days before the wedding, fleeing with ₹2.5 lakh in cash and jewellery, prompting a police investigation.

According to police, the wedding was scheduled for April 16 and preparations were underway. On Sunday night, the groom-to-be left home, claiming he was going to shop for wedding clothes. Later that evening, he called his father and said, "I’m leaving. Don’t try to look for me." Around the same time, the bride’s mother also went missing—without leaving any message. Investigations later confirmed that the two had fled together.
Mandrak SHO Arvind Kumar said, "The woman's husband has lodged a formal complaint. We've recorded statements from both families and launched an investigation. Efforts are underway to trace the whereabouts of the absconding duo."
Authorities believe the man might be hiding in Uttarakhand, where he is reportedly employed. "A search team has been sent, and CCTV footage from local bus stations and railway platforms is being reviewed for clues," officials stated.
A relative of the woman said the young man had begun frequent visits to the bride’s home and had once even gifted a mobile phone to his future mother-in-law. The two stayed in regular contact afterwards, though no one suspected their relationship would lead to an elopement.
