BRICS Summit 2026: Travelling to airport, railway station this weekend? Check traffic restrictions, alternative routes so that you don't miss your flight or train

Delhi Traffic Police has advised commuters travelling to major railway stations and Indira Gandhi International Airport to plan their journeys in advance during the 18th BRICS Leaders’ Summit, which will be held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi from September 11 to 13.

The advisory provides alternative routes for passengers travelling to New Delhi Railway Station, Old Delhi Railway Station and Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station. For airport passengers, the traffic police has strongly recommended using Metro services because of traffic regulations and possible delays during the summit.

Routes to New Delhi Railway Station

Passengers travelling to New Delhi Railway Station have been given three suggested routes.


One route starts from ISBT Kashmiri Gate and passes through Boulevard Road, Rani Jhansi Marg, DBG Road, Panchkuian Road and the Outer Circle of Connaught Place.

The second route runs through Ashram Chowk, Ring Road, Raj Ghat and JLN Marg.

The third option covers Vande Matram Marg, Dr Ambedkar Marg, Panchkuian Road and the Outer Circle of Connaught Place.

Routes to Old Delhi Railway Station

For Old Delhi Railway Station, commuters can take a route from ISBT Kashmiri Gate through Ring Road, Hanuman Mandir and S.P. Mukherjee Marg.

Another suggested route starts from Ashram Chowk, continues via Ring Road and Raj Ghat, and then goes back through Ring Road to Hanuman Mandir and S.P. Mukherjee Marg.

The third route covers Vande Matram Marg, Dr Ambedkar Marg, Rani Jhansi Marg, Rani Jhansi Flyover, Boulevard Road and Lothiyan Marg.

Routes to Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station

For Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station, one suggested route runs from AIIMS through Ring Road, Ashram Chowk and Mathura Road.

Another route starts at ISBT Kashmiri Gate and follows Ring Road, Raj Ghat, Ring Road, Ashram Chowk and Mathura Road.

Airport travel: Metro strongly recommended

The Delhi Traffic Police has strongly advised passengers travelling to and from airport terminals to use Metro services during the summit period.

For passengers travelling from Gurugram to Terminals 3, 4 and 2, the suggested route includes NH-48, Rao Gajraj Singh Marg, Old Delhi Gurugram Road, UER II, the service road and T3 Terminal Road.

For Terminal 1, one suggested route runs through NH-48, under the Mahipalpur Flyover and towards T3 Road. Another route covers NH-48, Mahipalpur Flyover, NH-48, Ulaanbaatar Marg and T1 Road.

Passengers travelling from Dwarka to the airport can use Sector 22 Dwarka Road and UER II, including the new tunnel towards T3.

Airport routes from New Delhi and South Delhi

For passengers travelling from New Delhi and South Delhi to Terminal 3, one suggested route covers Ring Road, AIIMS Chowk, Moti Bagh Chowk, RTR Marg, the road under Shankar Vihar Flyover, Sanjay T-Point, the service road, NH-48, the road under Mahipalpur Flyover, Rangpuri and T3 Terminal Road.

Another route to T3, T4, T2 and T1 runs through AIIMS Chowk, Ring Road, Moti Bagh Chowk, RTR Marg, Shankar Vihar Flyover and Ulaanbaatar Marg.

Airport routes from West Delhi

Passengers travelling from West Delhi can take the route from Punjabi Bagh Chowk through Ring Road, Raja Garden Chowk, Najafgarh Road, Pankha Road, Dabri, Dwarka Road, Road No. 224, Dabri-Gurugram Road, Sector 22 Dwarka Road, UER-II, the service road on NH-48 and T3 Terminal Road.

The route is suggested for travel to T3, T4, T2 and T1.

Airport routes from North and East Delhi

Travellers from North and East Delhi can use a route beginning at ISBT Kashmiri Gate and continuing through Rani Jhansi Flyover, Rohtak Road, Punjabi Bagh Chowk, Raja Garden Chowk, Najafgarh Road, Pankha Road, Dabri, Dwarka Road, Road No. 224, Dabri-Gurugram Road, Sector 22 Dwarka Road, UER-II, the service road on NH-48 and T3 Terminal Road.

The same route is listed for passengers travelling to T3, T4, T2 and T1.

Commuters advised to allow extra time

The traffic advisory asks passengers travelling to airports and railway stations to allow additional time for their journeys. Commuters have also been advised to use public transport and follow designated alternative routes during the summit.

Metro services will remain available to commuters at stations without disruption, according to the advisory.

Bus services may face diversions during VVIP movements, while taxis and TSRs will not be permitted to park on roadsides except in designated areas. Diversions may also be imposed during VVIP movements.
