Former Australian fast bowler Brett Lee has shifted base to Dubai with his family, marking a major personal move after years of living in Australia. The cricket great shared the news through a personal Instagram post, explaining that work trips to the UAE slowly turned into a permanent decision driven by family life, new opportunities, and the city’s pace and ambition.

From short visits to a new home

Lee said the move did not happen overnight. What began as professional travel gradually became something deeper. “What began as a few trips for work has grown into something much bigger… Dubai is now home,” he wrote, describing how the city grew on him and his family over time.

He pointed to several reasons behind the decision, including meaningful connections, more family time, and a lifestyle he feels is hard to match.

How the family is settling in

Opening up about life after the shift, Lee shared that his family has adapted quickly. “The kids are thriving, the schools are fantastic, sport is everywhere, and it’s the people you meet along the way that really make it,” he said.

While he underlined that Australia will always remain close to his heart, Lee highlighted what sets Dubai apart for him. “But there’s just something about Dubai. The energy, the ambition, the way anything feels possible.”

A ‘next chapter’, says Brett Lee

Calling the move the start of a fresh phase in life, Lee described it as the beginning of a “next chapter.” He said he feels proud to now call Dubai home, even if the journey has just begun.

He also encouraged others to experience the city at least once, suggesting it leaves a lasting impression. “Grateful for what’s been and excited for what’s ahead,” he concluded.
