In 1988, Madhuri appeared in Dayavan, a film directed by Feroz Khan, starring opposite veteran actor Vinod Khanna. While the film went on to become known for its intense storyline and memorable soundtrack, one scene in particular drew attention, a romantic sequence that, according to reports, went beyond what was scripted.

During the shoot, Madhuri, who was in her early twenties at the time, was said to have been visibly upset after a kiss scene reportedly continued beyond the director’s cue, resulting in a minor on-set injury. Vinod Khanna later offered an apology, and despite Madhuri’s discomfort and request to remove the scene, it remained in the final cut of the film.

Years later, the scene still sparks discussions, not just for its controversial nature but as a reflection of how much the industry has evolved in respecting boundaries and ensuring safety on sets.

From Veteran Actor to His Son

Interestingly, Madhuri went on to star with Khanna’s son, Akshaye Khanna, in Mohabbat (1997). The film marked a unique moment in Hindi cinema, where one actress had shared lead roles with two generations of a family, a testament to her enduring star power across eras.

She had also appeared with Rishi Kapoor, another frequent co-star from the same generation as Vinod Khanna, in films like Yaarana and Prem Granth, though those did not match the success of her other major hits.
