Boat with weapons off Raigad coast, Minister says it belongs to Australian woman

Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has said the boat found off Raigad coast is owned by Australian woman and it had drifted due to inclement weather and came to Raigad coast. The boat was recovered from Harihareshwar Beach and was carrying three AK-47s, several round of ammunitions and some documents.

Ofiicials say, Prima facie, there is no security threat, but it is unclear why it was carrying arms.

Some locals found the boat, having no crew member, in Shrivardhan area, located more than 190 km from Mumbai, and alerted the authorities.


The Anti-terror Squad are investigating the matter.

Devendra Fadnavis said the boat named Lady Han is owned by Hana Laundergun, an Australian citizen. Her husband James Harbert is the captain.

Security has been tightened all along the coast and the area has been put on high alert.

The Coast Guard and other security agencies have been informed.

The Maharashtra government, state police and other agencies have taken serious note of the speed-boat with a red alert sounded in the entire district.
