A new denim trend has taken the internet by storm as French luxury label Coperni introduces one-legged jeans priced at Rs 38,345 ($440). The unconventional design has drawn mixed reactions from social media users, fashion influencers, and industry experts.

Unusual one-legged jeans draw attention

According to Coperni’s product description, the jeans are "designed with a high waist" and combine "beachy shorts with a single-leg bootcut silhouette." The brand states that the style pushes the boundaries of classic denim and explores new dimensions.

Fashion influencer Kristy Sarah shared her experience with the jeans on Instagram, calling them "possibly the most controversial jeans on the internet." Her husband, Desmond, was quick to react, questioning, "Why is it missing a leg?" before adding, "Nobody’s wearing that."


Sarah, although initially skeptical, was open to the concept. "I’m not mad at it. Of course, I need a bigger size, it is a little too short for my preference," she commented.

Industry experts weigh in

Carson Kressley, an Emmy-winning stylist known for his work on RuPaul’s Drag Race and Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, expressed his thoughts in an interview with the New York Post. "Let’s hope this trend falls short and doesn’t have a leg to stand on," he said. He also quipped, "I hope these are always 50 per cent off!"

The jeans have sparked widespread discussion online. One user commented, "This is the dumbest thing I have ever seen," while another stated, "The designers are getting desperate. And I thought the electrical tape outfits were the worst." A third user joked, "There may be an amputee market for these."

Despite the criticism, the one-leg jeans have become popular. Coperni is not the first brand to experiment with such designs, as Bottega Veneta and Louis Vuitton launched similar half-and-half trousers last fall. Whether this trend will have lasting appeal remains to be seen.
