Bill Gates’ daughter Jennifer announces birth of first child, shares photo

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates' eldest daughter Jennifer Gates announced the birth of her first baby with her husband Nayel Nassar yesterday. Sharing a photograph on Instagram of the couple holding the newborn, Jennifer Gates wrote, “Sending love from our healthy little family”.

Melinda French Gates commented below her daughter's post and welcomed the baby, "Welcome to the world,"

Jennifer Katharine Gates, Bill, and Melinda's oldest child, was born on April 26, 1996. She pursued her undergraduate degree in human biology at Stanford University and is currently an MD candidate at the Icahn School of Medicine in New York City. On Instagram, Jennifer, who has over 500,000 followers, describes herself as an equestrian, book lover, and newlywed.

The has been a professional show jumper for years and continues to compete in the sport. She reportedly met her husband on the equestrian circuit and has also competed alongside him internationally. The couple got married in October 2021. In November last year, they announced that they were expecting their first child. Bill and Melinda, who divorced in 2021 after 27 years of marriage, are also parents to son Rory, 23, and daughter Phoebe, 20.

Earlier, while talking about becoming a grandfather had said: "I think you mostly help kids by setting a good example and giving them time when they want it. I hope to get lots of time with whatever grandchildren I have sharing my fascination with the world."

While Bill Gates is one of the richest people on the planet, he's spoken candidly about how he won't be passing on all of his wealth to his children. He has said that leaving his fortune to them would be a "mistake," and that he plans to give most of it to charity — including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
