'Bihu' performance with 11,304 dancers, drummers enters Guinness World Records

"We have made world records for both Bihu dance as well as Bihu dhols with 11,304 dancers and drummers. It is the largest Bihu dance and Bihu dhol performance in a single venue," Sarma said at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati.
The Guinness certificates will be handed over in his presence, the official said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also flew into Guwahati on a day-long trip on the first day of the state's spring festival 'Rongali Bihu'.
He was received at the airport by Governor Gulab Chand Kataria and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, before departing for the first programme of the day at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Guwahati at Changsari in Kamrup (Rural) district.
He dedicated Rs 1,123 crore medical facility, the first AIIMS in the North East, to the nation and will also virtually inaugurate three medical colleges at Nalbari, Nagaon and Kokrajhar.
GI for Gamosa
Assam CM also received a Geographical Indication registration certificate for 'Gamosa'(Assamese scarf) from Controller General of Patent, Designs and Trademarks and Registrar of GI Registry Unnat P Pandit.
A GI is tagged to primarily agricultural, natural or manufactured products, handicrafts and industrial goods originating from a definite geographical territory.
