Visuals from the spot showed an ambulance reaching the temple premises as chaos unfolded. According to eyewitness accounts shared with ANI, the incident occurred when a large crowd gathered for darshan on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti, which also fell on a Tuesday. According to officials quoted by PTI, eight women were killed in the stampede at temple in Bihar's Nalanda district.



Reena Rai, a devotee present at the temple, told ANI: “We came to know that a few people have fallen unconscious and a few others are injured. We also heard of a few deaths... The stampede occurred because nobody wanted to be in the queue and everybody wanted to have the darshan.”


Local resident Lalit Kumar described the scene to ANI, saying: “It is Mahavir Jayanti and Tuesday today, so there was a huge crowd there. The barricades broke, and suddenly a stampede occurred. People are saying that people were trampled on and deaths occurred... People are also saying that there was no Police there.”


The exact number of casualties is not yet confirmed, with more details awaited from authorities.
