Bigg Boss 16 contestant Sumbul Touqeer to star in 'Dear Ishq' on Disney Hotstar

Actress Sumbul Touqeer who gained a massive fan following during her stay at Bigg Boss 16 house, is all set to make her acting comeback with Dear Ishq; a complex tale of love with Sehban Azim and Niyati Fatnani playing leads.

Set against the backdrop of an Indian publishing house, the two characters who have completely opposite personalities slowly fall for each other over time. Fans are excited to see how Sumbul Touqeer will complicate the character plots and spice up the story. Touqeer plays the role of an uber-cool, fun influencer, who will help promote Rizwan's (Kunal Verma) book against competitor Abhimanyu (Sehban Azim). The male lead calls his character "drunk on his success", 'callous' and 'egoistic'.

Sumbul Touqeer, who gained fame as Imlie, calls herself a "fan of fiction show" and says that she's super "excited and nervous" to showcase her performance as the audience will now view her as an actor and judge her acting chops, as against her natural personality based performance in Bigg Boss 16 TV show.


Dear Ishq is directed by Atif Khan and produced by Yash Patnaik and Mamta Patnaik, Beyond Dreams Entertainment Private Limited. Fans can watch the romantic thriller on Disney+ Hotstar from Monday to Saturday. The show premiered in January 2023, and is based on Ravinder Singh's popular book Write Me A Love Story. Many critics have called the on-screen adaptation more of a typical Hindi television show than a web series, adding that the show lacked originality, creative focus and questionable camera shots.
