Veteran Bengali theatre artist Bibhash Chakraborty hospitalised after suffering from heart attack

Bibhash Chakraborty, a seasoned actor, and social activist was admitted to the hospital after having a cardiac arrest.

Authorities reported on Saturday that social activist and longtime member of Bengali theatre Bibhash Chakraborty was taken to the hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest. According to reports, the 80-year-old actor had a heart attack late Friday night and was then taken to the hospital because of his age-related complications.

According to a hospital official, his condition is now stable. However, he is being watched. He suffers from several age-related illnesses.

Chakraborty has performed in several plays since he joined the Bengali theatre company "Nandikar" in the 1960s. He later founded "Theatre Workshop" after leaving the theatre company, and he went on to direct several plays, including "Rajrakta" and "Chakbhanga Modhu."


Chakraborty founded the theatre company "Anya Theatre" and has been a part of Paschim Banga Natya Akademi for many years as a member since it was founded.

Due to his advanced age, he left Paschim Banga Natya Akademi in 2018.
