‘Bhindi Noodles’: Myanmar restaurant’s unique dish takes internet by storm
Twitter user Satabdi's photo of ‘bhindi noodles’ from a restaurant in Myanmar has sparked interest and curiosity about this unique fusion dish.

While Chinese hakka noodles are a popular dish that can be found at roadside stalls or made at home with different vegetables, adding bhindi to noodles might be a new concept for many. However, bhindi or okra is a favourite vegetable of many Indians. Satabdi’s post on Twitter surprised Indian Twitter users, who were intrigued by the idea of adding bhindi to noodles.

Satabdi also mentioned in a tweet that at the restaurant, customers can choose their own pick of vegetables or meat. The bhindi and other vegetables were sautéed together and then the noodles were added. She also learned that the locals in Myanmar eat okra raw.
One user asked Satabdi if the bhindi was cooked with the noodles or separately since it takes time to cook. Satabdi replied that at this restaurant, the vegetables were sautéed together first and then the noodles were added. The bhindi was not too raw or overcooked.
Last year, a food blogger experimented with a fusion dish by combining dosa and Korean ramen noodles. However, the dish didn't receive much appreciation from the netizens. In contrast, Satabdi's post about bhindi noodles has generated a lot of curiosity and interest among Twitter users.
