BGMI 4.6 update release date: India’s first original character Kiaraa is coming, check her story and new features

Battlegrounds Mobile India is about to get a character that is different from the usual skins and celebrity collaborations. KRAFTON India has unveiled Kiaraa, an original character created by its Indian in-house art team specifically for BGMI players. Kiaraa will be introduced as part of the BGMI 4.6 update, but there is an important distinction for players waiting for the new character. The 4.6 update itself is scheduled to arrive on September 16, 2026, while Kiaraa will become available later, from October 8, 2026.

The character comes with more than a new outfit. KRAFTON is building a complete setting around Kiaraa, including her own story, a new location on Erangel, a boss battle and a collection of India-themed items.

The BGMI 4.6 update releases on September 16, according to the official BGMI website. However, Kiaraa's content will go live on October 8, 2026. So, players should not expect to find Kiaraa immediately after installing version 4.6. The character will be part of the wider 4.6 content cycle.

Who is Kiaraa in BGMI?

Kiaraa is being positioned as BGMI's first original character IP created entirely by KRAFTON India's in-house art team for Indian players. That makes her different from many earlier BGMI additions that were based on licensed franchises, collaborations or celebrity appearances. KRAFTON had already experimented with homegrown characters through Anamika in 2025, but Kiaraa takes the idea further by giving the character an entire world inside the game.

She has her own origin story, a dedicated location on Erangel and a collection of items built around her identity.

What is Kiaraa's story?

KRAFTON has not yet released every detail of Kiaraa's backstory, but the character is closely connected to a new Indian-themed Bazaar on Erangel.The Bazaar is designed as more than a decorative location. It is where players will encounter Kiaraa and take part in Kiaraa's Test, a boss battle built around the character.

The setting also uses a Diwali theme, bringing Indian festive elements into the Erangel map. It will become the second India-themed location in BGMI after the Stepwell introduced earlier.

Kiaraa boss fight: How will it work?

This could be one of the more unusual additions in the update. Players will have to explore the Bazaar and locate four peacock-shaped lamps in its courtyard. Activating the corresponding summon points triggers Kiaraa's appearance. Once she arrives, the area turns into a Boss Fight Zone.

Kiaraa uses a bow and arrows during the encounter, including attacks that can rain down from above. Squads that manage to defeat her can collect high-level rewards. The peacock is also an important visual element throughout Kiaraa's design, appearing in different parts of the character's associated collection.

Kiaraa Nakshatra Collection: What can players get?

Kiaraa will also have her own themed collection. The Kiaraa Nakshatra Collection will be available through the Kiaraa Nakshatra Spin. Among the items announced are the Kiaraa Nakshatra Set, Divine Peacock Glider, Divine Radiance SCAR-L, Divine Chariot Buggy, Arrow Rain Emote and Divine Edge Machete. The character therefore isn't being introduced as just another playable appearance. KRAFTON is using Kiaraa as the centre of a larger themed experience spanning the map, gameplay and cosmetics.

BGMI's first India-specific Prize Path

There is another India-focused addition tied to the launch. KRAFTON is introducing BGMI's first India-specific Prize Path, with the Diwali-themed progression event scheduled to run from October 22 to November 15. It will have 20 stages, with festive rewards available as players progress.

For BGMI, the bigger change is perhaps the direction rather than any single reward. Kiaraa suggests that KRAFTON India wants to develop characters and stories specifically for its Indian audience instead of relying only on content created for the global game.

What makes Kiaraa different?

The key difference is that Kiaraa has been built as a character with a place and a story inside BGMI. She has an origin story. She has her own location. She has a boss encounter. And the visual identity around her extends into weapons, vehicles, outfits and other collectibles. For players, the first chance to experience this new character will come on October 8, 2026, even though the BGMI 4.6 update arrives earlier on September 16.

That gives Kiaraa a separate launch moment within the larger 4.6 update, and her arrival could become one of the major talking points for BGMI players during the festive season.
