With the city of Bengaluru pretty much submerged over the past few weeks, thanks to incessant rains, commuting to work has become an exercise in creativity for the city's many working professionals.

The latest innovation? Tractors. Many IT professionals going to work from areas that have been inundated with water have resorted to hitching rides on tractors, paying amounts in the Rs 40-Rs 60 range.

"We are waiting for tractors to drop us for Rs 50," one IT firm employee told ANI.

With India's 'Silicon Valley' flooded, the worst affected have been IT firms, logging losses of over Rs 200 crore. Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has assured firms that there will be a discussion on the issue and any compensation.

"We will call the IT companies and speak with them related to the issues that they are facing due to waterlogging. We will also discuss the compensation and other related damages that have been caused due to rain," Bommai told ANI.
