In a shocking incident, a mother in Bengaluru killed her four-year-old mentally challenged daughter by throwing her from the fourth floor of a building.

According to the police, the woman, a dentist by profession, thought that her mentally challenged child was an impediment for her career. After she threw the child, the woman also climbed on the railings and stood for a few seconds, before family members pulled her back.

Police arrested Sushma after a complaint by her husband Kiran. The child died on the spot, police said.


The couple resided on the fourth floor of the Advaith Ashraya apartment in CKC Garden.

CCTV footage of the incident showed the woman walking in the balcony with her daughter, and then throwing her down.

According to police, Sushma had also previously tried to abandon her daughter at a railway station.
