Keerthisiri had married Guruprasad, a gym trainer in 2023 and her parents alleged that she was under severe mental pressure due to husband and in-laws monetary demands. In a complaint the victim's parents alleged that Guruprasad had been demanding Rs 10 lakhs from her towards house construction. They said the Guruprasad demanded the money in December 2025 and they had arranged Rs 8 lakhs but still she was pressured to arrange the remaining money at the earliest.
The continued harassment for money drove her to take the extreme step. The police told PTI that Keerthisiri hanged herself at her home in Yediyur in the Banashankari area.
Based on a complaint lodged by her parents, police have registered a case of dowry harassment and abetment to suicide against Guruprasad and his parents at the Banashankari police station. Further investigation is underway, police added
