IMD officials say misty conditions have become typical for Bengaluru during the second week of January
The weather in Bengaluru continues to remain cold as a sharp chill has tightened its grip across the Karnataka state. Bengaluru received a light drizzle on Sunday morning and on the other hand, parts of interior Karnataka and north Karnataka experienced severe cold wave conditions. The minimum temperature in Bengaluru has dropped to 14 degrees Celsius after a few parts of the city experienced light drizzle. The misty mornings and dry winds have added to the discomfort of Bengaluru residents over the past two days.

People of Bengaluru are likely to experience a cool and misty Sunday today as similar weather conditions persist on January 11, according to the latest forecast by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The city is expected to witness fog or mist during early morning hours, followed by a partly cloudy to generally overcast sky through the day. The maximum temperature is likely to hover around 26°C, while the minimum may settle near 16°C, keeping mornings and late evenings noticeably chilly. Despite occasional drizzle, Bengaluru weather is expected to remain largely dry over the coming days, with cold air and cloud cover keeping temperatures low.

Light rain likely in Bengaluru today

IMD officials say misty conditions have become typical for Bengaluru during the second week of January. While sunshine may appear briefly, persistent cloud cover is expected to limit daytime heating. Isolated light rain or drizzle are likely in some pockets of Bengaluru Urban and Rural districts, influenced by moisture influx from a system over the Bay of Bengal. Humidity levels might remain relatively high, hovering around 75% to 84%.

While Bengaluru continues to experience relatively mild winter weather, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has sounded cold wave alerts for parts of North Interior Karnataka, including Vijayapura and Bagalkot, where temperatures have fallen sharply below normal levels. This spell of weather stands in contrast to the typically dry and stable conditions seen in South Interior Karnataka during January.

The cool conditions are expected to persist over the next 48 hours. From January 13, cloud cover is likely to gradually reduce, leading to a slight rise in daytime temperatures, although misty or foggy mornings may continue. Overall, Bengaluru’s weather on January 11 will feature a cold start to the day, overcast skies, and pleasant daytime temperatures—ideal for light winter clothing, with extra caution advised during early-morning travel.
As per IMD, cold winds and misty conditions are likely to continue in parts of Karnataka till January 14. While south interior Karnataka may receive light rain over the next couple of days, the showers are expected to be brief and patchy, offering little relief from the cold. IMD has issued a yellow alert for Bidar, Kalaburagi, Dharwad and Vijayapura, warning of severe cold conditions. Residents in these districts have been advised to remain cautious, especially during early mornings and late evenings.
