Bengaluru vs Noida: 26-year-old who moved to Silicon City calls it dirty, overpriced, and unsafe
A Reddit user's scathing review of Bengaluru has ignited online debate, criticizing the city's superficial culture, high cost of living, and cleanliness issues. The user, who relocated from Noida, finds the only redeeming quality to be the weather...

Having lived in Noida for 26 years, the individual said he relocated to Bengaluru last year but is now contemplating a return. “There’s nothing good about Bengaluru except the weather,” he wrote in a Reddit post, citing dissatisfaction with nearly every aspect of the city.
According to the post, the user found Bengaluru’s social culture to be superficial. “People care more about ‘reel life’ than real life,” he wrote. “Everything feels like a façade—be it fancy dogs, expensive clothes, luxury cars, or overpriced restaurants. Everyone’s just trying to show off.”
He also criticized the cost of living, particularly the food scene. “Restaurants are ridiculously overpriced for the quality they serve. Most places will set you back at least ₹2,000, and you have to pre-book or wait in long queues. Even the best cafés have waiting times so long that it kills the experience,” he added.

The user called out the city’s notorious auto-rickshaw woes, saying, “Getting an auto is a challenge. And when you do, you end up paying ₹300 for a 2-km ride. It's ridiculous—cabs are often cheaper than autos here.”
Surprisingly, he also criticized the city’s cleanliness. “Every 200 meters there’s a garbage dump. Roads are filthy, and there's a constant stink. Yes, there are well-maintained areas, but those are mostly far from office hubs,” he noted.
Addressing safety concerns, the user compared Bengaluru unfavorably to Delhi. “People say Delhi is unsafe, but it’s the same here, if not worse. I find people creepier here. Those calling Bengaluru ‘safe’ are just coping,” he claimed.
The lone saving grace, according to the user, is the weather. “Yes, the weather is amazing—pleasant, cool, and enjoyable. But it’s not enough to make up for everything else. You might survive here for a couple of years, but beyond that, I doubt anyone would be truly happy.”
Several others on Reddit echoed similar sentiments. One user commented, “No one ever said Bengaluru is better than Noida. Noida has far better infrastructure and living standards. But yes, Bengaluru does offer better pay and opportunities.”
Another user who recently moved from Bengaluru to Noida added, “I hope Noida turns out better for me. I spent five years in Bengaluru. Even the weather isn't as calm as people claim—afternoon gloom, frequent rains, and cold winds ruined many of my evening walks. My Vitamin D levels even dropped.”
