Bengaluru traffic leaves founder frustrated as 3-km trip takes 1.5 hours, leaves car and walks back: “how are businesses supposed to operate like this?”

Traffic has become a daily challenge in cities, with crowded roads, long queues and slow-moving vehicles becoming increasingly common. And we all know about the traffic situation in Bangalore. A user by the name of Souveek Ray shared a video on his Instagram showing how a travel of 10-25 minutes suddenly became a 90 minute long.

A 3-Km Trip Took Nearly 1.5 Hours

Ray said he and his team had planned a quick trip to a store to drop off some products before heading back home. What they expected to be a 10–20-minute journey turned into a roughly 1.5-hour ordeal, despite the destination being only around three kilometres away.

In a video, Ray showed the traffic conditions on his phone and said they had travelled just one kilometre in 45 minutes. With the journey becoming increasingly difficult, the team eventually decided to leave their car at the store and walk back home.

Ray Questions Bengaluru's Traffic and Road Conditions

Ray also highlighted the poor condition of parts of the route, saying there appeared to be very little that could be described as a proper road in some stretches.

He went on to raise concerns about how Bengaluru's traffic congestion could affect everyday life as well as businesses. He questioned how delivery workers, retailers, employees and customers could continue operating efficiently when short journeys regularly turn into lengthy commutes.

Ray Says His Comments Were Not an Attack on Bengaluru

Ray later clarified that his remarks were not intended as criticism of Bengaluru itself. He said he has lived in the city for around 10 years and chose to establish his business there because of his affection for the city.

"Before anyone starts complaining and saying we should leave Bangalore and go back to where we come from, let me tell you, I've been here for the last 10 years. I love Bangalore, and that is why I'm building here," he said.
