Bengaluru techie's post on Rs 80,000 rent view sparks viral trend
A Bengaluru-based software engineer, Ashish Jha, sparked a social media trend by sharing his apartment view and revealing his monthly rent of Rs 80,000. His post went viral, leading others to share their views and rent details, particularly from c...

Jha's post on X quickly gained traction, with approximately 10 lakh views since its sharing on June 7. He clarified that he shares a 3-bedroom apartment with two flatmates. This sparked a debate online about the financial wisdom of paying such high rent when "better" options might be available.
Value of Time over Money
In an interview with Moneycontrol, Jha explained his decision, stating, "I respect my time more than money." He emphasized the importance of minimizing his daily commute, which was significant in his previous job in Delhi.
Response to Critics
Addressing concerns about high rent and living conditions, Jha highlighted that not every area in Bengaluru faces water or electricity problems. He also pointed out the presence of a functional metro system in some areas, which justifies the high rents.
The post prompted diverse reactions. One user commented, "I would rather spend that 80K roaming the world every month than sitting in a cocoon of a house with that wonky view." Another user suggested, "Bro if you are able to afford 80k rent and think it’s cheap, come to Hyderabad. Flat in the prime area !! You can flex similar views with less traffic jams and better food!!"
