The traveller, Jaskaran Singh, shared the experience in a now-viral post on X (formerly Twitter), capturing the attention of netizens across India:
When tech meets presence of mind
Jaskaran had boarded a BMTC KIA shuttle to the airport, only to discover just before check-in that his backpack was missing. Panicked, he approached airport staff for help. That’s when the team turned to his UPI payment history for clues.
By checking the timestamp and transaction details from his digital payment to the shuttle service, the staff were able to identify the exact bus he had boarded. Within minutes, they reached out to the shuttle operators, traced the vehicle, and recovered the bag — all before Jaskaran’s flight.
Internet says: “Only in Bengaluru”
The story sparked praise and relatable memories from others who’ve benefited from the city’s tech-savvy systems.
Beyond the memes, a reminder
Bengaluru is often the punchline of jokes about traffic, water woes, and infrastructure gaps. But every now and then, stories like this cut through — showing that the city’s backbone of tech, trust, and teamwork is still very much alive.
And sometimes, all it takes is a UPI receipt and a Mr. Ravi to prove it.
