“This tech city solves everything” — says Bengaluru techie after airport staff trace his lost bag via UPI within minutes

In a moment that feels uniquely Bengaluru, a techie heading out of Kempegowda International Airport was reunited with his lost backpack within minutes — all thanks to some quick-thinking staff and a clever use of his UPI transaction history.

The traveller, Jaskaran Singh, shared the experience in a now-viral post on X (formerly Twitter), capturing the attention of netizens across India:



When tech meets presence of mind
Jaskaran had boarded a BMTC KIA shuttle to the airport, only to discover just before check-in that his backpack was missing. Panicked, he approached airport staff for help. That’s when the team turned to his UPI payment history for clues.

By checking the timestamp and transaction details from his digital payment to the shuttle service, the staff were able to identify the exact bus he had boarded. Within minutes, they reached out to the shuttle operators, traced the vehicle, and recovered the bag — all before Jaskaran’s flight.
