Bengaluru was hit by intense rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and hail, bringing a much-needed relief from the heat in the city. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for at least five districts of Karnataka, including Bengaluru. The city is likely to get heavy more rainfall and thunderstorms for the next two days and wind speeds may reach up to 60 kmph during rain spells.

Bengaluru rain alert

Bengaluru is likely to experience another short period of pre-monsoon weather with the IMD predicting rainfall, thunderstorms, and hail for the next few days. The latest bulletin released by the India Meteorological Department suggests that the stormy and rainy situation prevailing in the city, as well as the neighboring parts of South Interior Karnataka, will start improving from May 2.


Bengaluru seven day weather forecast

According to the IMD, Bengaluru will see widespread to scattered rainfall in the city and there are also chances of light to moderate rain and thundershowers along with hailstorm and gusty winds of up to 40-60 kmph. Sudden rains, lightning, and gusty winds might trigger water-logging in some of the low-lying areas of the city, causing difficulties for people to travel. Apart from flights and roads, even some outdoor activities will get affected.

Karnataka rain update

The IMD has forecast heavy rainfall, along with isolated hailstorm activity in South Interior Karnataka on May 1. According to the bulletin, rainfall activity in Bengaluru is expected to decrease significantly from May 2, with only isolated showers likely in a few areas. This suggests that while some parts may continue to receive occasional rain, it will not be as widespread or intense as before. Overall, the weather is likely to transition from a stormy phase to more stable conditions.
