A man from Bengaluru, identified as Nawaz, has been arrested for posting a provocative video on social media. In the video, he called for a bomb attack at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence. Police confirmed his arrest on Tuesday.

The Bandepalya police registered a case against Nawaz and took him into custody. He has now been sent to Bangalore Central Jail and placed under judicial custody.

Speaking about the case, Joint Commissioner-East Ramesh Banoth said that sedition charges have been added against Nawaz. The official also said that Nawaz had been involved in a past case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in Tumakuru.

“Two days ago, a post was shared from an Instagram account named Nawaz. It criticised PM Modi and contained negative comments. We traced the account, arrested the person, and checked his background. That’s when we found his previous involvement in an NDPS case,” said Banoth to ANI.

In the viral video, Nawaz said, “Why hasn’t Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence been bombed yet? He created this war-like situation when people were living peacefully. He should bomb his own residence first.”

Nawaz is originally from Bandepalya, near Electronic City in Bengaluru. He works as a mechanical engineer. His earlier NDPS case was registered in Tumkur district.

Police say they are taking the matter very seriously, as such comments can cause unrest and are dangerous to national security. Investigations are still ongoing.
