Bengaluru Couple Goes Viral for Practical Money Rules A couple from Bengaluru has caught widespread attention online after sharing the five financial rules they follow while managing a busy life that includes a toddler, a dog, and two full-time careers.

Megha and Shubham revealed their financial principles in a video shared on their joint Instagram account, "@the12absproject," where their ideas quickly gained traction among users looking for realistic money-management strategies. They captioned the reel by saying, “Here are the 5 money rules keeping us sane as a millennial family in Bangalore”1. Spend on our life , not image
They said “We never spend money to show off, but we spend freely on what genuinely makes us happy. No fancy cars, no branded clothes, no jewelry that just goes into a locker. But our home and society we live in, we never compromise on that because that’s the space we spend our entire day in and the space our daughter grows.”
2. Memories over things. Every time
3. We invest in our body and health
Their third principle is to view health and fitness as important investments rather than optional expenses. They feel that putting money into clean eating, high-quality products, and gym memberships now can help minimise medical expenses later in life.
4. Invest steadily based on goals
Another important rule they follow is gradually increasing their investments each year. They prioritise wealth creation by carefully planning for both their immediate financial needs and their long-term goals.
In their final rule, the couple shares both expenses and financial duties between them. Megha handles the fixed monthly outflows like rent, utility bills, and payments for domestic help, while Shubham is responsible for more flexible spending such as groceries, travel, and credit card expenses.
They emphasised that these financial guidelines are not one-size-fits-all, but rather a system that has proven to work well for their own household.
