Bengaluru bachelor reveals he spent Rs 12 lakh in 2 years on living expenses

Living in Bengaluru can significantly add to monthly expenses, as highlighted by a young resident who shared his two-year spending breakdown and said he spent around Rs 12 lakh while living as a bachelor in the city.

Harsh Agarwal, who shared the details in a video posted on his Instagram page "unfiltered_bachelord", said his monthly expenses in India's technology hub came to nearly Rs 50,000.

Rent, food and daily expenses make up Rs 50,000 monthly budget

Agarwal said he lives in a villa with his friends, for which his share of the rent is around Rs 28,000 per month.

Sharing his monthly expense breakup, he said groceries cost around Rs 5,000, while cook and maid services add another Rs 4,500.

He added that internet and other small expenses account for around Rs 1,000 per month, while fuel expenses are approximately Rs 3,000.

According to Agarwal, eating out and ordering food costs him about Rs 5,000 every month, while travelling between his hometown and Bengaluru adds another Rs 4,000.

Resident says expenses reached Rs 12 lakh over two years

Agarwal said these recurring expenses together amount to around Rs 50,000 every month. Based on this calculation, he estimated spending about Rs 6 lakh annually and nearly Rs 12 lakh over a period of two years.

He said even with careful financial planning, small daily expenses can accumulate quickly and advised people to track their spending regularly.

"Bangalore is very expensive, brother. You won't even realise where Rs 50,000 gets spent," he said in his social media post.

Agarwal added that expenses such as rent, food delivery orders and weekend fuel costs can increase spending faster than expected.

Another Bengaluru resident shares Rs 45,000 monthly expense breakdown

The post comes after another Bengaluru resident, Vaasavi Pasupulati, recently shared her monthly spending breakdown of around Rs 45,000.

Pasupulati said she calculated her expenses as a corporate employee living in Bengaluru and admitted that reviewing her spending gave her a reality check.

She shared that the exercise was intended to help her budget but made her reconsider her monthly expenses.
