Smriti chose to end the video with a quote attributed to Lord Krishna from the Bhagava Gita which has captured the attention of the netizens. The year 2025 was a landmark year for Smriti Mandhana on professional and personal fronts. On November 2, 2025, Smriti Mandhana scripted her name in the history as the Indian women’s cricket team lifted the World Cup for the first time, making the entire country proud. Also, around the same time, Mandhana's wedding preparations with filmmaker and music composer Palaash Muchhal became a talking point online and the couple was scheduled to tie the knot on November 23, 2025 in Maharashtra's Sangli. But the much-awaited wedding was called off following a dramatic series of events.

Smriti Mandhana's cryptic message as year ends

The cryptic message shared by Smriti Mandhana on New Year's eve was a line attributed to Lord Krishna from the Bhagavad Gita. The quote read, “DAY 12 Of daily Bhagavad Gita ‘Before something great happens to you, everything falls apart. So just wait.’ – Lord Krishna.” The message immediately caught attention of social media users and many saw it as a reflection of the emotional ups and downs she experienced over the year. The quote reflects the idea that periods of chaos, loss, or disappointment often come right before major personal growth or positive change.

In December 2025, Indian women’s team vice-captain Smriti Mandhana confirmed the cancellation of her wedding with music composer Palash Muchhal, addressing weeks of speculation through an Instagram post and requesting privacy for both families. Breaking her silence on the rumours surrounding her personal life, Mandhana wrote: "Over the past few weeks there has been plenty of speculation around my life and I feel it is important for me to speak out at this time. I am a very private person and I would like to keep it that way but I need to clarify that the wedding is called off," she stated.

"I would like to close this matter here and implore all of you to do the same. I request you to please respect the privacy of both families at this time and allow us the space to process and move on at our own pace," she added. Mandhana also highlighted her dedication to cricket and her goal of representing India at the highest level. Describing herself as a “very private person,” Mandhana said she felt compelled to set the record straight. She asked fans and the public to "respect the privacy of both families" and give them the "space to process and move on".

Mandhana emphasized that her focus remains on cricket. "I believe there is a higher purpose driving us all and for me that has always been representing my country at the highest level. I hope to continue to play and win trophies for India for as long as possible and that is where my focus will forever be," she said.
