YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia faced criticism after making a controversial remark on stand-up comedian Samay Raina’s YouTube show, India’s Got Latent. The remark, which was intended to match the show's dark humor, led to widespread backlash and social media criticism. Following the uproar, Allahbadia issued a public apology and acknowledged his mistake.

Ranveer Allahbadia issues apology

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Allahbadia wrote, “I shouldn’t have said what I said on India’s Got Latent. I’m sorry.” He also released a video in which he stated, “My comment wasn’t appropriate. It wasn’t even funny. Comedy is not my forte.”

He further added, “I’m just here to say sorry. Many of you asked if this is how I wished to use my platform, and obviously, this is not how I wish to use it. I am not going to give any context or justification or reasoning behind whatever happened. I’m just here for an apology.”

Allahbadia admitted to a lapse in judgment, acknowledging that his comments were insensitive and not in line with his usual content. “I wasn’t cool on my part. The podcast was watched by people of all ages. I don’t want to be the kind of person that takes responsibility lightly, and family is the last thing I would ever disrespect,” he said.

He also stated that he had requested the makers of the video to remove the insensitive portions, adding, “Need to use this platform better. That’s been my learning from this whole experience. I promise to just get better.”

What led to the controversy

During the episode, Ranveer asked a contestant a controversial question: “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day or join them to finish it once and for all?” The comment received laughter from the panel, including host Samay Raina, but left many viewers outraged. Critics condemned the remark as offensive and inappropriate, triggering a wave of online criticism.
