The Beating Retreat ceremony 2023 is all set to take place today, January 29. The ceremony is held exactly three days after Republic Day and the aim of the ceremony is to conclude the festivities of January 26. A wide array of programmes and shows are held during the Beating Retreat 2023.
The Section D of the Ministry of Defence organises the Beating Retreat ceremony in the country. On Delhi's Kartavya Path, formerly known as Rajpath, the three wings of the Indian military—the Army, Navy, and Air Force—will conduct the Beating Retreat ritual 2023. The beating retreat will take place in Raisina Hills.
The bands of the Indian Navy, Indian Army and Indian Air Force will perform today on the Kartavya Path. President Droupadi Murmu and her Presidential BodyGuard (PBG) will arrive for the beating retreat ceremony after which the PBG will perform the national salute. The national anthem will thereafter be played.

With 3,500 domestic drones, the Beating Retreat 2023 will host the largest drone show in the country. The drone spectacle will illuminate the night sky over the Raisina Hills by synchronising a wide variety of national figures and events.
The national anthem is played at the Beating Retreat ritual by the Army-developed massed bands, which comprise Military Bands, Pipe and Drum Bands, Buglers, and Trumpeters from various Army Regiments. Additionally, the Navy and Air Force bands will play a number of well-known songs, including Vande Mataram, the national anthem of India, and Vaishnava Jana To, a song that Mahatma Gandhi loved.
