BBC documentary row: Jamia Millia Islamia students detained after film screening
Several students of Jamia Millia Islamia were detained on Wednesday following the screening of the controversial BBC documentary 'India: The Modi Question'.

Following the uproar over the screening of the BBC documentary 'India: The Modi Question' at JNU, a similar crisis has erupted at Jamia Millia Islamia in Delhi, with some students being detained and riot police being deployed, according to reports.
The Students Federation of India (SFI) planned a screening of the BBC documentary on campus, following which the Jamia Millia Islamia administration issued an order prohibiting any unlawful meetings on campus.
The screening of the BBC documentary resulted in commotion at the Jamia Millia Islamia campus on Tuesday evening, with classes being cancelled and three students from a left-wing student club being detained.
Police arrived at Jamia Millia Islamia in blue riot gear and tear gas canons, hoping to quell the uproar generated by the screening of the BBC documentary. This follows on the heels of a similar event at JNU and Hyderabad Central University.
The Centre prohibited the BBC documentary just after days of its exhibition in the nation and directed Twitter and YouTube to remove accounts that were posting links and excerpts from the film centred on PM Modi.
After the screening of 'India: The Modi Question' was halted by officials, Jamia students allegedly staged a protest against the University's Vice Chancellor, requesting him to resign and end the "censorship" on campus.
