It shows a batter strolling up to the crease at the fall of the third wicket in a village cricket match in the UK. The batter, identified as Martin Hughes, arrives at the crease, takes a middle stump guard, marks it, and is about to settle into his stance when the wicket-keeper chips in: " You are not wearing pads, mate".
Thinking he was being sledged, Hughes retorts: "Eh, that chat won't work on me, mate." When the keeper insists, he looks down, realises he is not wearing any batting pads, and rushes back to the hut.
The innings was only in its fifth over and the ball was still hard. The batsman before him was out bowled. Going by the helmets on the batters, and by where the bowler marked his run-up, it was obvious the ball was going to come at some pace. So, it's not clear what Hughes was thinking all the while. The keeper, the umpire and the fielders break into a laugh. Even the bowler lets his aggro down and breaks into a broad grin.

@ThatsSoVillage I've had to bat up the order at least once because of a teammate doing this
— Jameson Tucker (@jwdtucker) 1658315478000There was a hilarious instance in 2017, when Fawad Ahmed, who migrated from Pakistan to Australia and went on to play first class cricket and a handful of ODIs and T20Is, came out to bat in a Sheffield Shield match without his - bat.
This is absolute GOLD from Fawad Ahmed! And his reaction is priceless #SheffieldShield #VICvWA @bushrangers… https://t.co/UphZ3ds2Ls
— cricket.com.au (@cricketcomau) 1489045249000Considering that he was a number 11, and his total first class runs in 62 matches was just 410, Fawad could be excused for not taking his skills with the willow too seriously. Many who faced him rated him as a fine leg spin bowler though.
